Branston's Potatoes
BRANSTON
This privately owned company has been working with some of the country’s most progressive potato growers since it was set up in 1968 at Branston, four miles from Lincoln. In 1997 they acquired their site at Seavington and in 2004 a further site in Abernethy near Perth.
With direct links to the West Country, the south coast and Wales, Seavington is an ideal location to provide Branston’s with a year round supply of some of the finest potatoes. Its position in the heart of the new potato growing area has meant that the Seavington site specialises in new and salad potatoes. They even have four boreholes at the site to provide a natural water supply for washing the potatoes.
As the major employer in Seavington, Branston is a vital part of our community and as such has gained a impressive reputation for supporting many local causes. For Seavington in 2010, this included support for our recently opened Community Shop & Cafe and sponsorship for the initial development of this Web Museum. In addition, ready for the Spring of 2011, they are responsible for landscaping a previously neglected area around a key junction leading to their site and the Seavington villages.
