OBITUARY - KENNETH MATTHEW ASH
Ken passed away at South Petherton Hospital on February the 23rd aged 70 years.
Born in Seavington he lived there most of his life. His wife, Dorothy, died 11 years ago. He learnt his trade as a carpenter and wheelwright and was a partner in the firm of Ash Bros. up to his retirement.
During the 1939-45 war he served in the Royal Navy Coastal Forces arid was wounded while on active service off the island of Crete.
A very keen sportsman he played football and cricket for the village teams was a member and keen supporter of Somerset County Cricket Club, also the present Seavington Football and Cricket Clubs.
St Michael’s Church was full for his funeral and loud speakers relayed the service to mourners who were unable to get in the church. There were family donations were given for South Petherton Hospital.
Michael would like to express his thanks to everyone who sent messages of sympathy, attended the funeral service and gave donations.
