Sir Mark and Lady Pizey
THE SEAVINGTON NEWS 1993
OBITUARY
This announcement, which appeared on April 16th last, will be of interest to many readers.
Admiral Sir Mark and Lady Pizey came to live in Seavington in 1958, when Sir Mark had just retired as Commander-in-Chief Devonport. They brought Abbots Barton, and lived there until 1974, when they left to make a new home at Burnham-on-Sea.
Lady Pizey took a very active part in our village life: she was a member of the Mother’s Union (they had two daughters) and of the P.C.C., and she also worked hard in helping to raise money for the Playing Field.
When the late Earl Mountbatten was Viceroy of India, Sir Mark’s naval duties took hit to Calcutta, and Lady Pizey was justly proud of photographs showing herself and her husband with Earl and Countess Mountbatten.
Among the many mourners at the Memorial Service were the Rev. Budgett, who was the Rector’of Seavington during the 1960’s and also Miss Elizabeth Jacobs.
