TREES FOR THE PLAYING FIELDS
36 trees have recently been planted in the Playing Field, they include: Thuya an evergreen, Beech, Larch, Western Hemlock, Horse Chestnut, and Sycamore.
Our thanks to Mr. Ewen Cameron who gave 30 trees also to Mrs. Jack and Mrs. Applegate, who gave the Horse-Chestnut and Sycamore. We are also grateful to Mr. Eric Gillard and Mr. Tony Tolman for their help in planting them.
The Horse Chestnut and Sycamore have been planted across the top of the Playing Field. The Thuya has been planted to screen the Pavilion from the “Pheasant” and A303 road, The Beech, Larch and Western Hemlock are planted at the back of the Pavilion.
Young trees are like babies, they need care to give them a good start in life. The grass needs to be cut short around the trees, and they will need occasional watering
in dry weather until they become established. It would only mean a couple of hours at the most about once a fortnight during the summer. Would anyone care to volunteer to do this if so please contact Mr. Bob Ash.
The Pavilion has recently been broken into, a pane of glass at the rear of the building was smashed, and the kitchen door forced open.
If you see anyone acting suspiciously in the vicinity of the Pavilion please telephone the police.
